Natural Photo Retouching: My Honest Approach

I love warm tones—especially natural, sun-kissed skin, soft light and golden shadows. That is why I often shoot during golden hour: skin takes on a gentle warmth and the entire photograph feels intimate and inviting.

For weddings, I usually create a cleaner, more natural colour palette, while keeping the warmth that defines my work. Your preferences always matter, so we can discuss the final mood in advance. My website and Instagram reflect the warm, heartfelt style you can expect from me.

“Cinematic” colour is sometimes associated with cool, blue shadows, but that is not my approach. I want photographs to feel kind and warm, because that is how meaningful memories often feel.

Modern tools help me retouch efficiently while preserving the natural character of every image. I refine skin, remove temporary blemishes and uneven areas, and keep real skin texture and pores. I also balance light and shadow carefully across the full gallery.

When light changes unexpectedly, I can restore balance without making the photograph look artificial. I may clean distracting marks from a background, soften creases in clothing, reduce shine caused by heat or flash, and even out differences in skin tone caused by temperature or lighting.

What I retouch

I use professional tools for a range of subtle, precise adjustments:

  • Skin: temporary blemishes and uneven areas are softened while natural texture remains visible.
  • Light and shadow: tonal balance is refined carefully across portraits and the full gallery.
  • Backgrounds: distracting marks, dirty walls, floors or unnecessary elements can be removed.
  • Clothing and small details: light creases, perspiration or strong flash reflections may be corrected.
  • Skin tone: colour differences between the face and hands are balanced for a natural, consistent result.

The original image always matters—light, timing and location shape the final photograph. Thoughtful editing helps bring each frame as close as possible to the intended mood while keeping it believable.

What I Never Change

There are certain things I never do. I do not change who you are: I do not reshape your nose, eyes or lips, and I do not make you thinner, taller or longer. On rare occasions, I may make a very subtle adjustment if an arm is pressed awkwardly against the body or gently refine the chin in a close portrait. My priority is for you to look like yourself—both in real life and in your photographs.

My retouching is always natural. It is not designed to “fix” you, but to highlight your beauty with softness, balance and harmony. This approach protects the genuine emotion and warmth of the moment—the part you will want to remember.

Colour Grading at Golden Hour

Milena and I travelled outside the city to step away from the noise and enjoy the calm of nature. I edit in Lightroom, working with RGB curves, profiles, colour mixing and detailed grading across shadows, highlights and midtones. Over time, I have developed a signature colour palette that feels distinctly mine. Clients often tell me that my colour is one of the reasons they choose to work with me.
